The 1986 Blue Angels season was their 40th Anniversary season and the last year that they flew the McDonnell Douglas A-4F Skyhawk II. Also in 1986, LCDR Donnie Cochran, joined the Blue Angels as the first African-American Naval Aviator to be selected. He would return to lead the team in 1993.
The photographs seen in this gallery were taken with an old manual 35m film camera. I recently was able to convert some of the negatives to digital files and have posted some of the photos taken at their NAS Atlanta stop.
