After the Viper East demo on Saturday, Rider displayed a University of Tennessee flag in the cockpit window. During the demo, two latches on a small hatch sheared off. That allowed the hatch to open. Rider mentioned that had the safety observer been able to see it from the ground, the demo would have been halted. The maintenance crew had to work through the night to fix the hatch, which you can see in the photo, so the plane would be ready for the Sunday demo.
